Homeleigh Garden Centre is one of the South West’s largest family run garden centres, where you can find everything for the keen gardener, for the home maker, for the angler, for pets, plus much, much more….

Homeleigh Garden Centre was established in 1983 and was once a small farm run by Derek & Enis Broad.

When it first started Derek and Enis just had a small greenhouse that they would grow vegetables and bedding plants in. They would sell the plants on a milk stand and had an honesty pot for any sales made. The garden centre grew rapidly buying in compost, plants and any other garden essentials for sale. The bungalow that they lived in was converted into what is now Robins View Restaurant.

Derek and Enis are still running the garden centre with the help of their son Rob. The garden centre is going from strength to strength, with now over 40 departments, selling nearly everything from plants to pets, slabs to snakes and a whole lot more. The site has got a real family atmosphere and with over 80 staff, the family seems to be growing all the time!

Homeleigh Garden Centre is situated just 1 mile outside of Launceston. It lies just on the border between Cornwall and Devon and features fantastic views over Dartmoor and the surrounding Cornwall and Devon countryside. It is just a 15-20 minute drive away from Holsworthy and the coastal town of Bude.

Here at The Cornwall Hotel Spa & Estate this week, we’re joining 80 other Cornish businesses to ‘Stop for Tea at Three’ to spread the word about our support for the Cornwall 100 Club, the corporate arm of the Cornwall Community Foundation.

We’ll be taking time out to treat staff to a well-deserved break, complete with delicious Cornish tea and biscuits, courtesy of three of Cornwall’s oldest businesses. Tea from Tregothnan and a selection of Furniss Biscuits from Proper Cornish, all delivered courtesy of Coodes Solicitors.

The Cornwall 100 Club is a group of businesses that supports Cornish communities and local charities, making a real, positive and measurable difference within the county. It’s an effective way of giving back to the communities we work in, helping as many people in Cornwall as possible and ensuring that every penny of our donation is spent wisely.

They also offer volunteering opportunities for staff to help out with local projects, from painting a community centre or planting a garden, through to spending time with someone less fortunate.

If you’d like to find out more about these contact Claire Thayres on 01566 779333. If you’d like to read more about the work that Cornwall 100 Club and Cornwall Community Foundation do, you can visit their website at www.cornwall100club.co.uk.

The Cornwall 100 Club is a vehicle for your business to give effective, targeted funding to grassroots organisations and projects in your local communities.

For most of us Cornwall is a wonderful place to live and work with a quality of life second to none. Yet there are also areas of real deprivation in Cornwall, where people are living extremely difficult lives due to poverty, isolation and other disadvantages which are addressed by the hundreds of grants that The Cornwall Community Foundation administer every year. There are people in your community, close to your home and workplace, who need your help.

ANNUAL CONTRIBUTION

Members of The Cornwall 100 Club will be asked to make an annual donation to The Cornwall Community Foundation of at least £1,000, for a minimum of three years, of which

Half will be used to support local needs through grants decided by the Cornwall 100 Club Panel and administered by The Cornwall Community Foundation,

One quarter will be invested in The Cornwall Community Foundation endowment fund, the income of which will be used to future-proof The Cornwall Community Foundation and make grants to people in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly forever,

One quarter will be used to support The Cornwall Community Foundation itself, including the development of new funds targeting key issues within Cornwall. We estimate that for every pound given to The Cornwall Community Foundation for development, between £10 and £20 will be brought back in for grant making.

BENEFITS TO MEMBERS

Benefits to the members of The Cornwall 100 Club include the following;

professional, easy and effective corporate philanthropy,

marketing materials, to include a logo for use on members’ own materials and a membership certificate for display in reception areas,

exclusive networking events,

volunteering opportunities for your staff – individually or as a group,

reports on grants for use in each members’ annual reports,

a bespoke letter directing cold requests for funding to The Cornwall Community Foundation,

assistance for each member to take advantage of gift aid and payroll giving.
